The Context
The Abidjan project – the second school born out of partnership with Didier Drogba Foundation – was carried out in January 2019. The first one out of four to be opened in Ivory Coast in 2019, the School was inaugurated within the Saint-Marie d’Abidjan highschool by Stéphane Nomis, the CEO of Ippon technologies and Didier Drogba, the former Ivorian national football player.
Established in 1962 and based on the agreement between the State of Ivory Coast and the apostolic community Saint François Xavier, the women middle school Saint Marie was extended to the High School in 1967. It now welcomes 1500 students from the middle to high school.
The Project
In January 2019, four of Ippon technologies Volunteers, including the CEO Stephane Nomis, went to carry out the project of establishing the digital classroom in the middle and high school of Saint-Marie of Abidjan.
They installed twelve fully equipped computer stations and gave the teachers’ staff the necessary training. The school also received a special donation: the sports equipment (balls, shorts, flips), offered by ONG HumS and brought to Abidjan by Ippon Volunteers.
The Partner
Founded in 2007, the Didier Drogba Foundation covers three fields of action: Health, Education and population empowerment in Africa. These are the three most important pillars of a community development process.
The Didier Drogba Foundation is now thinking bigger and aims to develop its activities during 2020, the goal being to become one of the most important humanitarian African foundations.
